TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – The freezing temperatures have been a nightmare for dozens of homeowners in North Mississippi, keeping local plumbers busier than usual.
A small pipe connector shattered in an attic caused severe damage to one Lee County home. Chris Scribner, owner of the Servicemaster franchise in Tupelo has been busy cleaning up the structure which caused the entire ceiling to collapse when water gushed out of the broken pipe.
“We’ve experienced above normal calls dealing with this. It’s nothing like it was last year this time with the big freeze coming in but I’d say probably 30 or 40 losses that we know of right now just in the North Mississippi area,” says Scribner.
Scribner says costs could run anywhere from $2,500 to as much as $30,000 to make repairs.
