Video: Former Jailer Charged with Sexual Assault

LEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) –A former Lee County jailer is charged with felony sexual assault.

Andy Dustin Jackson appeared Tuesday for a probable cause hearing.

Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson says Jackson admitted having sex with a female prisoner while on duty earlier this month.

Sheriff Johnson says Jackson befriended the female inmate, and the two had consensual relations.

Investigators learned about the incident, and Jackson resigned.

“We saw this was a pattern of a relationship between these two individuals that built up, that it was certainly not something that, we had an officer go back there and take a female inmate against her will and force her to do something , it was completely consensual, but state law does not allow a relationship like that.”

Jackson is out on a $3,500.00 bond. Sheriff Johnson points out Jackson did not work at the jail once investigators found out about the incident.
