TUPELO, MISS. (WCBI) – Students at several elementary schools in one local district are learning that they can make a difference in the life of someone, if they work together.
All week, students at ECEC, Carver, Joyner, Parkway and Thomas Street schools in Tupelo have brought change for Make A Wish.
On Monday, students brought pennies, tuesday it was nickels, wednesday they brought dimes, thursday quarters were taken up and dollars for friday.
The money raised will help make wish come true for a young child fighting a life threatening illness.
“Our goal was to let them know that they can make a difference as well, even the small things, they can add up and make the big things important and yes, there are things bigger than we are but we can still be a part of it,” said Aimee Hawkins, home school liasion at Thomas Street Elementary.
Organizers should know how much money was raised by early next week.
