WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) – A member of Mississippi’s Congressional delegation took a little time out Thursday to brief area residents on progress in Washington.
First District Representative Trent Kelly updated West Point Business and political leaders on a number of the bills going through the agriculture and small business committees.
He also fielded questions about military spending and budget negotiations.
“Making sure that we get a budget deal done that reflects the interest of the people. Also it takes care of our military. It is very important that we not go back and sequester where our military is punished on the backs of all other programs.”
“Agriculture has always been very very important to us. On small business we are engaged in several things that keep the government and regulatory issues off our backs. Our businesses do not need more government. They need less government and less regulation.”
