VIDEO: FARMtastic Returns to Starkville

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)- It’s that time of year again, thousands of students are heading to the Starkville Horse Park.

FARMtastic is an annual event that the Mississippi State extension service puts on for elementary aged children in the area.

The children learn about the importance of farms and how they provide for much of their livelihood.

Walking through various stations they encounter multiple farm animals, some big and some small.

Organizers of the event say it’s as rewarding to watch the children engage with the animals for the first time.

“I feed off the lightbulb moment that our kids have when they hold a baby chick for the first time or when they blow bubbles through a stick of wood, and so I’m excited to see their faces today and I hope they really enjoy farmtastic and learn a lot from it,” says event organizer Julie White.

They expect to see as many as 2,200 children by the end of the week.
