Video: Fall Furniture Market Attracts Mix Of Veteran And New Exhibitors And Buyers

TUPELO, MISS. (WCBI) – It is the first few hours of the Fall Market and the signage for J. Garmon Furniture is almost complete.

This is the first time for the Plantersville based company to show its two main product lines these patented lift chairs and stationary furniture at the Tupelo market.

‘Market is going exceptionally well for us, we actually had buyers in last night, and this morning has been very busy,” said Angela Howard, of J. Garmon Furniture.

That is exactly what Tupelo Furniture Market President Kevin Seddon likes to hear. He expects anywhere from 400 to 600 exhibitors, and thousands of buyers from 40 states and several countries to do business at this market.

“Mississippi, being the state that produces the most upholstered furniture in the country, we have a lot of companies that show here that these folks, can’t buy that product anywhere else,” Seddon said.

There are always promotions and incentives and for this market, bedding exhibitors have something new called mattress mania.

“Mattress Mania is offering our retail customers a hot buy, at a hot smokin’ Tupelo Furniture Market, ” said  Jimmy Taylor, who is sales manager for Virginia based “Symbol Matterss.”  The company has had a presence at every Tupelo Furniture Market and walks away with orders every time.

One of those customers is Alabama based Mattress Gallery.  Owner Mark Frazier likes the laid back atmosphere and convenience of the Tupelo market.

“This seems to be a better location than , for me, anyway, than North Carolina or Las Vegas,” Frazier said.

The 59th furniture market runs through Sunday.

The furniture gift and home accessories show is opened to the public.  It is in building one of the complex on Coley Road.
