COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — An exhibit at the Columbus-Lowndes Public Library explores history through quilts. The display opened with storyteller and fiber artist Diane Williams discussing the techniques and patterns that African slaves brought with them to America.
A variety of modern and historic quilts will be featured, including some which featured secret codes, designs, and colors used by African-American slaves to navigate the Underground Railroad to freedom.
The exhibit runs through April and is free to the public.
