VIDEO: EMCC Awarded Grant to Ensure Student Success

SCOOBA, Miss. (WCBI)- East Mississippi Community College is among four community colleges, nationwide, chosen to take part in a new initiative to improve student success rates through a grant funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

The partnership places an emphasis on enhancing advisors’ ability to provide personalized services to students to help them develop the skills and confidence to succeed in college and beyond.

The donors of the grant are excited to see the progress the extra money will provide.

Starting in fall 2017, incoming freshmen will be assigned an advisor to identify career goals, ensure the student is enrolled in the correct educational program, and is only taking courses needed to graduate.
