ABERDEEN, Miss. (WCBI) – Movie fans are running out of chances to hear the familiar whir of film spinning through a projector.
New digital screens and projection equipment are being installed this week at the historic Elkin Theater in Aberdeen and this weekend’s showings of “The Odd Life of Timothy Green” will be the last movies shown on 35 millimeter film. The association that oversees the refurbished theater has raised more than $25,000 toward the project and will use a small loan and theater revenue to cover the $65,000 conversion to digital. Theaters across the country are having to make the move because the movie industry will go all digital next year.
