Video: A Drug Sweep in Monroe County

MONROE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Members of law enforcement are calling it a big win, after a successful drug roundup took place in Monroe County.

An undercover drug bust took place across Monroe County on Thursday.

It involved multiple agencies from the county level, up to the state level.

“MBN, Mississippi Highway Patrol, G-Troop and some from F-Troop. We had the Nettleton Police Department and the Amory Police Department, along with several other agencies,” says Sheriff Cecil Cantrell.

The first stop was Nettleton, where officers and deputies set up roadblocks and made some interesting discoveries.

Those actions are the result of law enforcement taking a bite out of crime and a hit at drugs.

“Some of them had ice, marijuana, baggies, so they’re definitely selling. It’s just a situation we’re not going to put up with them selling drugs and having drugs in our county.”

The last county wide drug operation was six to eight weeks ago.

That one and this one share the same message, and it’s one that’s well known in Monroe.

“We’re not going to tolerate drugs in Monroe County. Zero tolerance. That’s what we’re trying to send to these people. If you deal drugs, if you sell drugs, or if you use drugs, we’re going to deal with you.”

The operation ended in Amory and resulted in dozens of arrests.
