TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI)-
Another protest march occurred in Tupelo today.
The Coalition of Concerned Pastors and Leaders sponsored the march and rally in downtown Tupelo.
The group is not happy with the recent decision that exonerated the Tupelo Police Department from any wrong doing in the June 19th death of Ronnie Shumpert.
On the steps of the Lee County Courthouse CCPL called for the US Justice Department to step in.
Attorney Kenneth Mayfield says their group believes the police went too far.
“We simply saying that Ronnie Shumpert should not have been killed. If he was hid up under a house and you’ve got a dog standing outside barking at him. And you’ve got an armed policeman that is standing outside then why do you have to kill him. People get tazed all of the time you know when they want to.” said Mayfield.
Mayfield says the group plans to continue to hold rallies as long as it takes.
He says the next one is scheduled for Labor Day Weekend, September 3rd.
