COLUMBUS, Miss. – (WCBI)The skin is the largest organ of the human body.
Melissa Rushing specializes in taking care of it through her work at Bella Derma Spa in Columbus. If you’ve noticed your skin has been zapped of moisture lately, don’t blame Mother Nature just yet.
” It is the heat. Not just in the environment, but also on the inside. We drink a lot more caffeinated beverages, hot warm beverages, and soups,” says Rushing.
So, what can we do to shield our skin? I stopped by the Main Street Spa to find out.
Melissa says she recommends introducing oils into your routine. She is partial to grape seed and coconut oils. Mix this essential oils into moisturizers to increase absorption. Avoid lip balms containing mineral oil. Use a very gentle exfoliator daily. Don’t forget to wear gloves when going outdoors, and choose an organic hand sanitizer to protect you from germs. The key is to understand the ingredients that are best for your skin type. If you aren’t sure, please consult with a skin care professional.
Don’t forget that drinking plenty of water every day can also keep you looking and feeling your best.
“I say if you have cocoa in one hand, have a water in the other.”
For Melissa Rushing, increasing awareness about winterization of skin is just one more day in the life.
