Video: Corinth Police Investigate ‘Cold-Blooded’ Murder Of Convenience Store Worker

CORINTH, MISS. (WCBI) – Corinth police are investigating the city’s first homicide of 2016. It happened during an attempted robbery at a gas station.

Crime scene tape surrounded the Mapco Express hours after a deadly shooting, as workers cleaned the gruesome scene.

“They were very callous in the way they committed this crime ,” said Corinth Police Chief Ralph Dance.

Dance says about 5: 30 Monday morning two black males walked into the convenience store.

Surveillance video shows the pair getting some items, then bringing them to the counter.

Dance says one of the gunmen demanded money from the clerk.

“At that time she hit the panic alarm, he went behind the counter, brandishing a small caliber handgun and shot the clerk several times,” Chief Dance said.

The criminals ran from the store without taking any cash.

43 year old Kris Ledlow had worked at the store for several years.

Former co workers are trying to come to grips with the senseless killing.

“Six, seven years, she’s been here, she’s the only person that stuck around at this store, for what little pay they do pay us, but she loved her job. She also sat with an elderly woman, when I got here at 5 or 5 30, to relieve her, she would go sit with an elderly woman all day, then go home, get some sleep then come back at night, it’s a sad situation,” said Nicole Harville, who once was a manager at the store.

Harville said she hopes security footage will help police get the killers off the street.

Because of that video, police have solid leads on the possible suspects, in fact, before lunchtime, Chief Dance contacted family members of one of the suspects and they convinced the 17 year old to turn himself in.

Dance says the second suspect is likely a minor.

“To be murdered, just trying to do your job is sad, it’s tough times we live in right now, but no one should have to face that,” Dance said.

Dance says it’s always a good idea for store clerks to work in pairs, during late evening or early morning shifts.
