TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – A convenience store owner who was the subject of a lengthy undercover investigation into the sale of spice is now behind bars.
Thirty-eight year old Saleem Allahi was arrested during a traffic stop Tuesday. Officers found amphetamine pills, and a satchel containing more than $3,400.00 in cash.
Allahi also had two arrest warrants from the Lee County Sheriff’s Department. The warrants were the result of an undercover investigation into the sale of “spice” at a convenience store near the Lee and Itawamba County line on Highway 371.
Sheriff Jim Johnson says spice is a dangerous drug.
“The potential problem is it can elevate the strength of it, you can have a degree of spice that is fatal if you ingest it, or it can cause you to be deathly sick and that’s what happened in this particular case that came out of this particular store.”
Allahi’s bond was set at $100,000.00.
