Video: Consolidation of Starkville, Oktibbeha County Schools Keeps Moving

Jackson, Miss. (WCBI) — It is one line that remains a stumbling block in final approval of the Starkville and Oktibbeha County schools consolidation. The wording that appoints Starkville School Superintendent Lewis Holloway as conservator for the Oktibbeha County district is back  in House Bill 833. The state Senate approved the amended legislation today.Lawmakers have added Holloway and scratched him out again on paper for all of the versions of the consolidation bill.

State Senator Gary Jackson, a member of the Education Committee, tells WCBI News they hope to name a conference committee early next week. Those members will craft what he hopes will be the final wording for both houses to approve.

Holloway could be named as the overall conservator as early as July.
