VIDEO: Confederate Supporters Hold Rally

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI)- Backers of Confederate history gathered in Tupelo today to show their support for the soldiers who served in the Civil War.

The Confederates United Patriots Society says its goal is to preserve the history of the confederacy.

The group says no matter which side of the debate over the Confederacy and its legacy- the fact remains it is a part of the country’s history.

That’s why they are opposed to the removal of confederate monuments erected to remember people like Robert E. Lee.

Organizers say they realize the Confederate flag is often linked to the Klan and racist acts, but say events like today are held to make people realize those acts are not what the entire Confederacy should be judged by.
