Jackson, Miss. (WCBI) – 230 million in state bonds will help pay for everything from buildings at Mississippi State, M-U-W and area community colleges to a railroad through Montgomery and Yalobusha counties. Governor Phil Bryant is expected to sign bond bills approved Monday by the House and Senate. The measures provide almost 93 million dollars for projects at the state’s universities, including the ongoing library expansion at M-U-W. Another 23 million will go to community colleges, including a student center at E-M-C-C. The bill also has 30 million dollars for Montgomery, Yalobusha and five other counties to buy the Grenada Railway and keep it open from Southaven to Canton as an economic development tool. Money to help Cooper Tire expand in Tupelo also is included.
