VIDEO: Community Celebrates Representative Tyrone Ellis

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)- Hundreds gather in Starkville to honor Representative Tyrone Ellis for his almost four decades of service in the state legislature.

Family, friends, fellow legislators, and supporters attended the reception that featured proclamations from the House of Representatives, City of Starkville, Oktibbeha County, and many other organizations.

There were also expressions from family members.

Ellis announced his retirement from the legislature earlier this summer.

He says after 38 years, it’s humbling to have this kind of hometown support.

Ellis plans to spend more time working in his ministry. HIs is the pastor of Second Running Water Baptist Church in Shuqualak.
