COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Pre-K Students at Annunciation Catholic School in Columbus got a heaping helping of Doctor Seuss Wednesday morning.

As part of National Read Across America Day, better known as Dr. Seuss Day, the youngsters feasted on a literary treat of Green Eggs and Ham for breakfast.

Terri Doumit read to the children as they enjoyed their colorful meal.

Some of the older kids also got a visit from the Cat in the Hat and Things One and Two.

WCBI’s Aundrea Self joined the Dr. Seuss festivities at Sale Elementary in East Columbus, reading her favorite “Oh, The Places You’ll Go” to students in Mrs. Gerhart’s 3rd Grade class, and “The Cat in the Hat” to Mrs. White’s Kindergarteners.

Across town over a hundred little “Cats in Hats” converged in Downtown Columbus

Elementary students at Franklin Academy took to the streets to celebrate their favorite author.

The children have been reading the books of Dr. Seuss and held a parade to celebrate his birthday, and Read Across America.

Several of the students dressed as characters, and there was even a clown on hand to entertain them and lead them in wishing Dr Seuss “Happy Birthday”.
