STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — They’re carrying the torch to raise awareness and money for Special Olympics.
This morning, officers from the Columbus Police Department participated in the Law Enforcement Torch Run.
Officers started at City Hall on Main Street, and ended at police headquarters. They also sold t-shirts to help raise money for the cause.
Starkville police officers joined in, as well. They kicked off their run at Sudduth Elementary School. Students cheered them on as they made their way to three other schools across the city. The run ended at the Starkville Sportsplex.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run began in 1981 and is the largest grass-roots fundraiser for Special Olympics.
