COLUMBUS, Miss.(WCBI)–A Columbus man involved in an alleged shooting incident on the city’s southside makes an initial appearance at the Columbus Municipal Complex. The suspect is already charged with murder in connection with another shooting incident that happened last year.
Thursday morning and 20- year old Kayle Scott was led in chains to appear before Judge Mark Amos, the suspect is certainly no stranger to the criminal justice system.
“This young man does have a criminal history with our, within the city. The city of Columbus,” said Tony McCoy/Columbus Police Department.
Columbus Police Investigators believe it was Scott who pulled out a gun and fatally shot 21 year old Devin Lamar Montgomery in the back. There was an apparent argument during a graduation party at Columbus Fairgrounds. Now Scott is named as a suspect in an aggravated assault that happened around nine Saturday morning.
“And warrants were issued for him and on this morning the U S Marshals Task Force located him in Tuscaloosa and brought him back here to Columbus,” said Tony McCoy.
And so an alleged shooter out on bond, apparently is being held for shooting someone again.
“Officers responded to the 2300 block of Fifth Avenue South. Shots were fired. And Mr. Scott was named as a suspect, identified as a suspect,” said Tony McCoy.
Thankfully, the most recent male shooting victim that was not named by police, should survive his injuries.
No bond has been set, and his previous bond for the murder charge has been revoked.
