COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) -The Mississippi Department of Archives and History has approved the Columbus City Hall renovation project’s interior design plan, and project leaders and the city are looking forward to completing phase two of the reconstruction.
Project leaders say asbestos has been fully removed from the building and that the exterior is about 90% complete.
The next step in the project is to bring a general contractor on board. Project managers say they look forward to adding a Twenty-First Century feel to the historic building.
“Just knowing that you’re seeing a building built in 1903, being renovated to go back to the previous look. I mean it kind of sparks you on the inside knowing its going to be jazzy for everybody to like”
Project leaders tell me that they’re looking for the project to be fully completed of February of 2017.
