Video: Columbus City Council Taps New Member for School Board

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) -The Columbus City Council has appointed a new board member to its school district.

In a unanimous decision, Josie Shumake will take the school board seat held by Glenn Lautzenhiser.

Lautsenhiser’s term expires Monday, March 7th.

There were three other applicants considered for the position.

A city spokesperson says council members felt Shumake’s experience in education and government would serve the school board well.

No word yet on when Shumake will be sworn into office.
