COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – The Columbus City Council is the final government body to approve funding to allow the Golden Triangle Airport to secure a west bound airline service.
Councilmen approved a $125,000 commitment next year to help guarantee a year of revenue for the carrier.
Other Golden Triangle cities and counties have already signed on for a total of $500,000 and the airport has a $750,000 federal grant.
The airport hopes that will be enough to get an airline to provide at least two daily flights to Dallas.
If the airline is successful, the local governments may not have to provide all their share.
