ACKERMAN, Miss. (WCBI) – Choctaw County is on solid financial ground. The Board of Supervisors finalized the budget for the next fiscal year. The good news for residents is there will be no tax increase.
The thirty million dollar balanced budget includes plans to make extra payments on the county’s hospital bond, with an eye to shortening the term of the debt.
Board president Chris McIntyre credits a diverse industry base with keeping the millage rate low for individual tax payers.
“As any budget there’s always a challenge to every year to meet the financial responsibility. As far as all the departments and meeting the goals that they want to seek, we met all the needs. We balanced the budget, and look forward to going into this next year.”
This is the tenth year in a row that Supervisors have managed a budget without resorting to a tax increase.
