HOUSTON, Miss. (WCBI) -A longtime employee at the Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Department is retiring.

Investigator and Coroner Andy Harmon is leaving after 26 years of service. Harmon started his law enforcement career at the Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Department in 1989 and has worked his way up the ranks.

He says he entered law enforcement in order to serve the public and protect people.

Harmon says a lot has changed over the years, especially the attitude some have toward law enforcement.

“In the last ten years, it has kind of turned, with respect to law enforcement, has turned around, and law enforcement has become a target.”

Harmon plans to spend time hunting, fishing and overseeing his construction business.
