TUPELO, MISS. (WCBI) – It’s a chance to get a start on your Christmas shopping while helping a charity at the same time.
The annual “Celebration Village” is underway in Tupelo. It all began this evening with a special “preview party” that included food, music and a silent auction.
There are 140 vendors selling food, clothing, arts and crafts, and other specialty items. Proceeds from ticket sales and the vendor fees go to support Tupelo’s Sanctuary Hospice House and its mission to provide compassionate end of life care to the terminally ill.
It takes a lot of volunteers to stage the event.
“Each year we’re looking at about 400 to 500 volunteers to pull this together. It’s amazing because we transform this entire building into just a winter wonderland, if you haven’t been before this is the year to come,” said Heather Palmer of Sanctuary Hospice House.
Celebration Village runs through Saturday evening. Tickets are seven dollars at the door. For more information go to www.sanctuaryhospicehouse.com/celebration_village.asp
