Video: CAFB Gets Recognized As ‘Community Partner’
TUPELO, MISS. (WCBI) – The Columbus Air Force Base is recognized for its impact on young people throughout the region.
CAFB’s 14th Flying Training Wing received the Create Foundation’s “Community Partner Award” during the group’s annual meeting.
The air base was recognized for its role in the recent “Imagine the Possibilities Career Expo.”
CAFB had brought 114 volunteers to the three day event, demonstrating seven career paths for thousands of eighth graders throughout the Northeast Mississippi region.
Colonel Douglas Gosney says he was honored to accept the award.
“It means a lot for , to see the airmen get recognized, for reaching out and trying to find a way to give back to the community and this CREATE Foundation, fair, career fair was a great thing to be part of and if we can play a small part in inspiring these young kids in Mississippi to dream big and realize there are other pathways there to success, it’s important for us and to highlight our airmen and let them see them,” said Col. Douglas Gosney.
The Community Partner Award is not given every year, but only when an organization makes a big difference throughout the area.
