Video: Buffalo Park Pumpkin Patch Favorite Stop For Families

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Thousands of school students, church groups and entire families have made a trip to a popular pumpkin patch this month. WCBI’s Allie Martin dropped in on the attraction this morning and found hundreds of kids looking for that special pumpkin.

It’s one of the most anticipated field trips of the year for these students, who get to stuff a scarecrow, jump on an inflatable and try their skill at rubber duck races.

But the main attraction inside the Tupelo Buffalo Park, is the Pumpkin Patch.

Tell me what you did out here today?

“Picked a pumpkin.”

Big, little, in between?

“big”

There are pumpkins of all shapes, sizes

How much do you think that weighs?

“About 100 pounds or so.”

And you’re holding it, you’re strong.

“Yes.”

and even colors.

You were looking for a particular kind of pumpkin?

“A white.”

Was that the only white pumpkin in the patch?

“Uh huh.”

What are you going to do with it?

“I don’t know.”

Some pumpkin pickers had plans for their Jack O Lantern.

“Carve it.”

What kind of design will you make?

“I don’t know.”

“Make pumpkin pie.”

That sounds good, can I have some?

“No.”

Of course, the pumpkin patch is well staffed by professionals who make sure everyone is safe and has a great time.Workers were even able to help a local man come up with a unique and memorable marriage proposal.

“We had Will and Molly.Will wanted to do something special for Molly for a proposal so we hid a pumpkin out here and he came out and got down on his knees and asked if she would marry him and she said yes.”

It is a lot of work to keep the pumpkin patch running smoothly, but Fennell says the youngsters make it all worthwhile.

“You’re just a kid yourself when you are out here with all these kids.”
