TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — The Boys and Girls Club Of North Mississippi will use a $ 25,000 grant to help build a new technology center at its locations. Comcast will help the club develop programs for kids to use for learning skills. Parents can also access the new technology to learn job skills and professional development courses. Sponsors say helping both parent and child pays off in the long run.
“In those zip codes where you have low income you probably have ten fifteen maybe 20 percent broad band which are internet accessible in the household. Because we are living in a global society to be able to allow our club members to access the internet everyday that they come in to the club is huge for us.”
Comcast also said it will provide six free months of its low cost broad band service for eligible boys and girls club members. One of those requirements is at least one family member be enrolled in the National School lunch program.
