“My favorite part was when we made coasters and we got to decorate them,” said 10 year old Jesus Magana.

This is the first year NEMCC has been invlved with the camp. It’s hosted by the college’s division of workforce training and economic development.. Students and faculty say it’s a lot of fun and there are many benefits.

“Again our goal is to introduce kids to this environment in hopes of sparking interest in the field of manufacturing that they might at least consider this field when they start to make those decisions,” said Ben Shappley, of NEMCC.

“Northeast has been a good summer, and their food is really great,” said 11 year old Christian Price.

Although this camp wraps up friday the boys and girls club will continue with a number of initiatives to help young people keep an interest in math, science and manufacturing. All part of an ongoing effort to develop future leaders in business and industry.

That camp was made possible by grants from NASA and SONY.
