NEW ALBANY, Miss. (WCBI) – Nineteen bicycling enthusiasts from Memphis began a more than 500 mile journey Saturday morning for cancer awareness.
They arrived in New Albany Saturday afternoon enroute to Tupelo, where they are spending their first night.
They are raising money for the Wings Cancer Foundation’s Wellness program that helps cancer survivors get their lives back to normal.
“This ride will benefit more of the physical therapy aspects of cancer therapy, so you know the fitness behind it, nutrition behind it, trying to get people back to where they’re functioning at a state that is at or better than they were before they started their therapy,” said participant Dr. Todd Tillmanns. “And then also to help them go through their therapy.”
The bikers will set off from Tupelo Sunday morning and intend to reach their final destination, Rosemary Beach, Florida on Wednesday.
