COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Baptist Hospital is celebrating the success of their 39 Weeks program.Baptist Golden Triangle is joining with hospitals statewide to reduce the number of elective deliveries before 39 weeks of development.
Studies have found that babies that are carried to full term, 39 weeks or later, have fewer health problems than babies that are delivered before that milestone, and the extra time gives vital organs time to fully develop.
“Unless there are medical complications for delivering early, it is much better if we deliver them after 39 weeks of pregnancy.”
Hospitals statewide are participating in the 39 Weeks initiative.
