VIDEO: Avalon Apartment Building Goes Up In Flames

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – Tense moments for Avalon Apartment residents in Starkville as one of the buildings went up in flames.

The Starkville Fire Department received the call just before mid-night Thursday evening. Chief Charles Yarbrough says when the department arrived on the scene the building was fully engulfed in flames.

Three people were injured in last nights incident. One sustained burns on the back and two others were injured jumping from a window.

Yarbrough says they’re still investigating the cause.

“The investigation is on going. Right now we have it narrowed down to two possibly apartments that it may have started in. It will probably be later today or maybe tomorrow before we can get in and figure out what happened, If we ever figure out what happened. We may never figure out what happened. If we can get it narrowed down an figure out where it started at then that would be a big deal,”said Yarbrough.

The fire department was at the scene most of the day checking for hot spots.
