NORTHEAST, Miss. (WCBI) – Area utilities are bracing for a possible double whammy starting overnight and running through Wednesday.
Sunday night’s rain combined with rapidly freezing temperatures could create problems when ice-laden trees and limbs fall on power lines.
Two days of sub freezing temperatures could add to the problems.
Many water and sewer pipes in the region are 50 to 100 years old.
That makes them susceptible to freezing and cracking.
Utility managers tell us they have their fingers crossed hoping for the best and have full crews on standby to respond to calls.
