NORTHEAST MISSISSIPPI – The special election for the open 1st District congressional seat is in six weeks. That means the 13 candidates running in the non-partisan May 12th election must raise money, reach voters, state their positions, and distinguish themselves in a short amount of time.
And the jockeying is beginning in earnest for media attention. Businessman Sam Adcock today called for debates among the large field. Transportation Commissioner Mike Tagert released a position paper. And Boyce Adams of Columbus toured industries promoting job creation. If needed, a runoff is June 3rd.
