COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Students at Annunciation Catholic School set a reading record this summer. The school has been named the top school in Mississippi in the global “Scholastic’s Summer Reading Challenge.”
Children from all over the world competed to read the most minutes this summer. Annunciation students read a total of 295,868 minutes, the most in the state.
This is the third straight year ACS has been named the top school in Mississippi.
“It shows that there is a passion for reading and learning at our school and for such a small school. We have a little bit over 200 students. It just shows that we have that passion and that drive and reading is the foundation of why we are here.”
ACS will receive a plaque and new books for the school library and be listed in the 2016 Scholastic Book of World Records.
