FAYETTE, Ala. (WCBI) – Governor Bentley took time out from an economic development event Friday to comment on his decision to block the resettling of Syrian Refugees in Alabama.
Bentley was one of the first U.S. governors to take a stand on the matter after last Friday’s terror attacks in Paris.
“Sunday night, I made a decision that we could have said that we’re going to do our best to screen these people, well it’s not our job to screen these people, so what I decided, was that we would just make a very tough decision and say that these individuals would just not come into the state of Alabama.”
Over half of the Nation’s governors have voiced similar opposition to the White House’s plan to resettle thousands of Syrians in the U.S.
