ABERDEEN, Miss. (WCBI) – The board of Aberdeen main street wants to build a clock downtown.
They’re hoping to have the clock built in time for the town’s 175th birthday next May.
Committee leaders say the town has federal, circuit, bankruptcy and county courthouses in the town and say all the traffic going in and out of the area will benefit from the clock.
It will cost around 15-thousand dollars to build. They’ve raised around 3 thousand dollars so far.
The committee’s encouraging everyone to help make donations.
“We’re hoping to designate this as a mayor’s clock in honor of all the mayors that have served our town. We feel like it’s kind of just a tribute to our heritage and our history of the town. And we just hope everybody will get involved and be a part of it,” said committee member Kathy Lusby.
The committee hopes to raise enough funds for the clock by February.
