ABERDEEN, Miss. (WCBI) -Like a bridge over troubled water. There’s a lot of work that needs to be done. Repairs are needed to a bridge owned by Monroe County on North Meridian Street in Aberdeen. But, the city of Aberdeen owns the utilities on the bridge. And those have to be moved before work can begin.
The county has a grant to pay for structural repair. But the city doesn’t have anything budgeted to move the lines.
That’s made for a tense situation, until the two sides sat down Friday to talk it out.
” We’re trying to come up with a solution to relocate those utilities. I think today was a very good day.”
“We’ve got a meeting set up with engineers – county engineers and city engineers to see all the options we have. We can move forward.”
County Road manager Sonny Clay is working with engineers to come up with a plan that will be presented to the city and the county. The task force hopes to have a solution to put in front of the Monroe County supervisors and Aberdeen Municipal Board as early as next week.
