Video: 27th Annual Eudora Welty Writers’ Symposium Kicks off at The “W”

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)  – Literature lovers converge in Columbus this weekend. The Mississippi University for Women is hosting the 27th Annual
Eudora Welty Writer’s Symposium. The three day event kicked off Thursday night with author Moira Crone, and the awarding of the Eudora Welty Prize.

This year’s theme is “New Beginnings in Southern Letters” and events feature a dozen authors from around the region, including Susan Howorth and Ravi Howard.

The highlight of the weekend is the Welty Gala Friday night featuring political satirist P.J. O’Rourke.
