TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — More than $144 million in insurance claims have been paid across the state for damage to homes and businesses from the April tornadoes. Those cover more than 10,000 claims, state Insurance Commissioner Mike Chaney says.
Chaney says despite the number and size of the claims, his department has received few complaints from property owners. He says the state’s experience from previous hurricanes and tornadoes have helped insurance companies, regulators, emergency assistance agencies and residents better understand their obligations and coordinate response.
