Vardaman Teen Stabs Father’s Girlfriend

VARDAMAN, Miss. (WCBI) – A Vardaman teen is in custody after stabbing his fathers girlfriend.

According to Sheriff Greg Pollan, 45 year old Shelia Hughes is in critical condition after sustaining severe stab wounds to her back.

The incident took place on County Road 433 near Vardaman just after noon Saturday.

Because of the wounds Hughes needed to be air-lifted to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.

The 17 year old whose name is not be released because he is a minor is in custody.

No word yet on why the incident took place.

It remains under investigation.
