Vardaman High School Rams
VARDAMAN, Miss. (WCBI) — It has been a difficult last two seasons for legendary head football coach Larry Gann at Vardaman.
The Rams have fallen on hard times within the program but there’s reason for optimism following an improving spring season.

“We finished the spring really strong,” coach Gann said. “We had some positive things happen during the spring jamboree that helped fuel us going into the off-season. It’s been a building process and that’s the next building block in our goal to get better.”
That spring could catapult the produ Vardaman Rams football program to new heights in 2015.
Coach Gann returns to the sidelines for his third season and he believes his talent on offense can continue the climb back to the top.
“Our skill people are pretty good,” Gann said. “We should be able to throw the ball if we can get our protection improved. I do believe we can pitch and catch it pretty well.”
Vardaman has struggled the last two years as the Rams have been competitive but have failed to get into the win column.
That hasn’t deterred coach Gann and the Rams from thinking big but they are keeping their expectations realistic.
“Our first goal is to win a game,” Gann said. “After we do that, we have goals built in behind that. We want to have a winning season and try to make the playoffs. If you don’t want to do those things, you really don’t need to start. Our goals don’t change regardless of previous seasons’ outcome.”
It’s a bright future at Vardaman behind their long-time head coach who returned to take over the Rams in 2012. With a schedule that opens up towards the end of the season, the Rams could very well find themselves back where they belong in the division race for 2015.
