UPS worker accused of stealing guns
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – A UPS worker is no longer employed after three guns wound up missing from a UPS Columbus terminal.
Earlier this week, Sharquez Lavonte Cox was arrested and charged with three counts of Possession of a Stolen Firearm.
Back in late March, the shipping company reported the weapons missing.
The guns were on the way to local federal firearms licensed dealers but did not arrive at their destination.
Lowndes County detectives investigated the complaint and determined the guns were taken as they arrived at the terminal.
Cox was stopped at Highway 82 East, and 18th avenue, on May 6.
Investigators said they found two of the stolen firearms in his car.
After searching his residence on Pandora Drive, in Columbus, the other firearm was found.
Cox was a part-time off-loader, working at the UPS Columbus terminal, during the reported thefts. He has since been fired from his job.
