UPDATE – West Point Police Identify Victim In Sunday Death

WEST POINT (WCBI) – A West Point man is dead after a Sunday altercation at a Dix Street home.  Chief Tim Brinkley says 48 year old David Ryals was found unresponsive at a residence located on Dix Street in West Point.  Officers went to the home after someone called 9-1-1 saying there was a fight before hanging up.   Officers found Ryals , who lived at 713 Dix Street unresponsive. Ryals was later pronounced dead at North Mississippi Medical Center.

25 year old Nicholas Phyffer and 22 year old Kaylee Rhea are both being held in connection with Ryals’ death.   Chief Brinkley says he is still trying to find out why the fight started and the final charges will depend on  autopsy results.   Clay County jail records show  Rhea is being held without bond on murder charges.   Phyfer was initially held on a murder charge but an updated booking sheet shows he is now being held on a trespassing charge with no bond. Chief Brinkley says that trespassing charge is unrelated to the Sunday death.
