UPDATE: Two Victims Identified In Monroe County Crash

MONROE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)- The victims of Saturday night’s crash in Monroe County have been identified.

MHP responded to a 3 vehicle crash Sunday morning around 12:30 AM on US 45 ALT. just north of Hwy. 25/Aberdeen Exit.

A Nissan Sentra being followed by a Hyundai Sonata were traveling south in the north bound lanes of 45 ALT. when the Sentra collided head on with a north bound Mercury Grand Marquis.

After the initial collision, the trailing Sonata  collided with the Sentra sending the Hyundai off of the east side of the Hwy.

The driver of the Sentra was 72 year-old Quincy Howell from Azusa, California. The driver of the Mercury was 20 year-old Lamonica Rupert from Tupelo. Both were both pronounced dead at the scene by Monroe County Coroner Alan Gurley.

41 year-old Aline Howell, a passenger in the Sentra was airlifted to NMMC with critical injuries. Passengers in the Mercury, 44 year-old Jeanette Rupert from Tupelo and 21 year-old Raheem Petty of Tupelo were both transported to NMMC by ambulance with moderate injuries.

The driver of the Sonata, 72 year-old Mildred Howell and passenger, 73 year-old Ivory Howell are both from Chicago Illinois and were transported to NMMC Tupelo with moderate injuries.

This accident remains under investigation by MHP.
