UPDATE: Standoff Continues More Than 24 Hours Later in Itawamba County

ITAWAMBA COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) –

UPDATE:

A standoff in Itawamba County is still underway Sunday.

It began Saturday afternoon.

Itawamba County Sheriff Chris Dickinson a 10-year old hostage is safe at this time, but is still being held inside the home.

WCBI has a reporter on scene who is working to gather the latest information, until then, here’s what we know.

WHAT WE KNOW:

The Itawamba County Sheriff’s Department, the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, and the Mississippi Highway Patrol SWAT team are involved in the standoff on Alice Hall Road.

Sheriff Chris Dickinson says one man is armed and is holding two people hostage, including the 10-year old child.

The sheriff says a crisis negotiator has been in constant communication with the child, who is okay at this time.

We do not know the condition of the other person being held hostage.
