UPDATE- New Details In Cooper Tire Shooting
TUPELO (WCBI) – One Cooper Tire worker is being treated for gunshot wounds and another being questioned following a Wednesday night shooting inside the Tupelo plant.
Police were called just after eight o’clock to the plant on South Green street. That’s where they found one man suffering from gunshot wounds . The unidentified worker is being treated at NMMC for non life threatening injuries. A Tupelo Police spokesman says the gunman then left the plant but was taken into custody without incident by a Tupelo officer on company grounds. He is being questioned at this hour . Initial reports indicate the shooter and victim worked in the same area of the plant but an exact motive is not clear. Tupelo officers and detectives will be on site while they interview witnesses but stress there is no reason to believe others are involved and consider the scene secure.
