UPDATE: Iuka Man Arrested Earlier This Week Officially Facing Arson Charges

TISHOMINGO CO., Miss. (WCBI) – Tishomingo County deputies arrested a man earlier this week that was accused of breaking into two homes. Now, he’s facing arson charges.

34-year-old Joshua Craig Ryan has been formally charged with 1st degree arson. The charge comes following an investigation by the state fire marshal’s office and Tishomingo County Sheriff’s Department.

The burglaries happened early in the morning on August 8th near Iuka.

The homeowner gave deputies a description of the intruder, and deputies say they later spotted Ryan close by, determining that he matched the description they had been given.

Investigators say Ryan was near a home on County Road 989, and had stolen items from that home on him.

Firefighters responded to a blaze at that same residence a short time later, which caused severe damage.

Ryan was arrested that day and charged with burglary of a dwelling, failure to comply, and resisting arrest.

Bond has been set for Ryan regarding the three felony charges and two misdemeanor charges, in the amount of $75,000 dollars.

He also has a hold placed on him by the circuit court for failure to pay restitution on previous felony charges.

Ryan remains in custody in the Tishomingo County jail at this time.
